World T20 is here. Here are the records that matter.
World T20 is here. It is going to be crazy few days. This is the 5th edition of the World T20, India won the first, followed by Pakistan, England and the last one was won by West Indies.
Here are some records from this amazing tournament ever since its inception:
Mahela Jayawardene has scored the most number of runs (858) in this tournament, followed by Chris Gayle (664).
He has also announced that he will quit T20 cricket post this world cup.
Brendon McCullum has scored the most number of runs in an innings – 123 vs Bangladesh in 2012 edition of the world cup.
Rohit Sharma has the highest average (55.00 runs per innings) so far in World T20.
Chris Gayle has the highest strike rate (152.29) in World T20. He also holds the record for most number of sixes (43), next is Shane Watson with 27 sixes.
Shahid Afridi holds the records for most number of ducks (5).
Lasith Malinga holds the record for most number of wickets taken (33), Saeed Ajmal is next to him with 32 wickets.
Daniel Vettori is the most economical bowler with an economy of 5.83 runs per over.
Kamran Akmal is the most successful wicket-keeper with 24 dismissals, closely followed by Sangakkara with 23.
AB de Villiers has held most number of catches in World T20 (16).
